Sevier County 4-H Shotgun Team


Team Requirements for the 2024-2025 Season

  • Ear Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Shotgun (12 or 20 gauge)
  • Shooting Pouch or Vest for Ammunition
  • Current 5th-12th graders, as of Jan 1, 2025
  • 4-H members under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian over 21 at practices and events
  • An informational meeting will be held on November 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Sevier County Extension Office.
  • All registration fees, regardless of package choice, are due by January 24, 2025
  • Hunters Safety Course either in person or online. In-person OR free courses can be found on the TWRA Hunter Education web page.
  • SportsYou – Free download and Sports Communication App to for athletes, parents, and coaches. This is our ONLY form of communication for the Shooting Sports Teams.

Team members and their parents are expected to actively participate in fundraising events on a regular basis. The costs associated with the shooting program are calculated with anticipated fundraising efforts in mind. A lack of participation in these fundraising initiatives may lead to additional fee requirements during the season.

Divisions Offered – Trap, Skeet, & Sporting Clays

4-H Season practices will focus on trap and skeet. Athletes in grades 5-7 (as of Jan 1, 2025) shoot trap only in the Junior Division, and grades 8-12 (as of Jan 1, 2025) shoot trap and skeet in the Senior Division. Youth must supply their own firearm and it must be a 12 or 20-gauge. Shooters will have the option to shoot sporting clays as an add-on.

Trap & Skeet Practices

  • Junior and Senior Squads will practice trap on Mondays at 5:00 PM, Starting January 27
  • Senior Squads will practice skeet one Saturday a month at 9:00 AM, Starting February 8th
  • 4-H Season practices will be conducted February – May
  • SCTP Season practices will be conducted May – July
  • A parent is required to attend each practice with athletes under the age of 16.
  • Athletes must shoot at least 800 targets at team practices
  • Trap practices will be conducted at: Hog Heaven Gun Club (White Pine, TN)
  • Skeet practices will be conducted at: Greene County Range & Firearms (Greeneville, TN)

Sporting Clays Practices

  • Practices will be conducted February – July
  • A parent is required to attend each practice with their athlete.
  • Athletes must shoot at least 800 targets at team practices.
  • Locations:
    • Greene County Range & Firearms (Greeneville, TN)
    • Iron Mountain Sporting Clays (Kodak, TN)

    All shooters must have practiced at least 800 targets with the team to be eligible to shoot in the State or Regional shoots. This does not include targets outside of team practices.


    Payment Reminders WILL NOT be sent, the total amount is due January 24, 2025.
