Join the Sevier County 4-H Meats Judging Team!
Are you interested in agriculture, food science, or learning valuable life skills? The Sevier County 4-H Meats Judging Team is a fun and educational opportunity for youth to develop critical thinking, decision-making, and public speaking skills while learning about the meat industry.
As a member of the team, participants will:
- Learn to identify and evaluate retail cuts of meat.
- Judge classes of beef, pork, and lamb based on quality and yield.
- Gain knowledge of meat science, food safety, and the livestock industry.
- Build confidence through oral reasons and team competitions.
- Make new friends from across the state while representing Tennessee 4-H.
No prior experience is necessary—we’ll teach you everything you need to know!
Who Can Join?
Youth entering 4th through 11th grade are invited to join the Tennessee 4-H Meats Judging Team. Whether you’re new to agriculture or already involved in livestock projects, this is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and compete in a rewarding 4-H program.
Practice Schedule
Team practices will be held every Tuesday from 6:00–7:30 p.m. During practices, members will participate in hands-on judging activities, learn industry terminology, practice oral reasons, and prepare for upcoming contests.
Why Join?
The Tennessee 4-H Meats Judging Team helps members develop skills that extend far beyond the contest arena. Participants improve communication, teamwork, leadership, and analytical thinking while gaining a greater understanding of one of Tennessee’s largest agricultural industries.
