4-H Public Speaking

The Sevier County 4-H Public Speaking Contest is a great opportunity for youth to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and showcase their talents while competing with other 4-H members from across the county. This local contest is part of the statewide Tennessee 4-H Public Speaking program, where winners may advance to regional and state competition.

Sevier County 4-H Public Speaking Contest a Success

Sevier County 4-H recently hosted its annual Public Speaking Contest at the Sevier County Courthouse, bringing together youth from across the county to showcase their communication and leadership skills. Participants competed in grade-level divisions and presented prepared speeches on a variety of topics, demonstrating confidence, organization, and growth in public speaking.

Throughout the contest, youth were evaluated by volunteer judges on content, delivery, organization, and overall presentation. Many participants had the opportunity to present in a formal setting for the first time, making the experience both educational and empowering. Judges provided written feedback to help youth continue developing their speaking skills.

Public speaking is a key life skill emphasized in 4-H programming, and this contest served as a culminating event following classroom lessons and workshops offered throughout the fall. The contest not only encouraged youth to step outside their comfort zones, but also helped build confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills that will benefit them in school and beyond.

Sevier County 4-H would like to thank all participating youth, families, teachers, and volunteer judges for their support in making this event a success. We look forward to continuing to grow public speaking opportunities for youth in the coming year.
