4-H Poultry Project

4-H Chick Chain

PLEASE READ THE CHICK CHAIN APPLICATION CAREFULLY.

Each year approximately 15 Sevier County 4-H participate in the 4-H Poultry Project. To be eligible for the project, 4-H members must be able to provide the required housing, facilities, and feed to produce well-grown, healthy pullets that the 4-Hers could take pride in having produced. This program is outlined below:

  • Families register for 10 or more baby chicks.
  • The 4-H member or parent agrees to pick up the chicks at the UT Extension office in Sevierville.  Please make sure to bring a suitable container to transport baby chicks.
  • Each 4-H Club member will agree to feed and care for his or her chicks and return three (3) choice pullets to the County Poultry Show and Auction that will be held during the Seiver County Fair just outside the Poultry Barn.  The show will begin at 10:30 a.m.  These pullets will compete for prizes to be awarded.
  • Ribbons will be awarded at the show and participants who complete the project win their money back from their initial investment.

Registration is available during November and December. Completed registrations will NOT be accepted after January 15th.

The Chick Chain begins in March and will end at the show in August.

There is a $__ registration fee to participate in the Chick Chain.
