4-H Camps, Workshops, and Events

There are many camps and conferences that 4-H Members can attend. Below is information on camps and conferences held at the county, region, and state levels. This page is regularly updated so make sure to check back frequently for upcoming events!

Please note that if school is canceled due to inclement weather, any 4-H event, club meeting, or workshop scheduled for that day is also canceled.

Sevier County 4-H Summer Camps:

Below are the summer camps that will be offered by Sevier County 4-H in the summer of 2024!

Registration for all camps will go live April 10th at 8:00 AM. Space for camps is limited and are filled on a first-come first-serve basis.

Junior 4-H Camp will be held at the Clyde Austin 4-H Center in Greeneville, TN! Youth who have completed 4th, 5th, and 6th grades have an incredible opportunity to participate in Junior 4-H Camp. Campers have the opportunity to go swimming, creek stomping, ride the zip line, participate in archery, shoot rifles, make crafts, play gau-gau, make new friends, see old friends, and simply have the time of their lives! Campers arrive on Monday morning and return home on Friday. Campers are supervised by 4-H agents and trained adult and teen volunteers during their stay.

June 3-7, 2024

Cost: $365 (Transportation is provided for campers to and from camp)

Grades: 4-6

You must pay a deposit of $182.50 when registering for camp to reserve your spot. Full payments can also be made at registration if desired. Balances are due by May 10th. Spaces are limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration will open at 8 AM on April 10th. No registrations will be accepted online or in the office before this time.

Come learn how to grill! We will be learning about grilling and cooking techniques. We will cover dry rubs, marinades, and simple seasoning. There will be learning, games, fire, and meat. We will learn about cooking beef, pork, poultry, and lamb. No supplies or experience is needed, just bring an empty stomach and a positive attitude.

Dive into the world of fishing mastery on as we partner with the TWRA and Carson Newman University Fishing Team for a morning of fishing fun, followed by a lesson on cleaning and cooking your fresh catch.

Capture picture-perfect photography skills at Photography Day Camp!

Campers will spend their morning taking inventory of the macroinvertebrates of the deciduous forest and stream using scientific methods. In small teams, the group will analyze the health of each ecosystem through the use of bioindicators and biodiversity.

Regional 4-H Summer Camps:

Below are the summer camps that will be offered by Sevier County 4-H in the summer of 2024!

Registration for all camps will go live April 10th at 8:00 AM. Space for camps is limited and are filled on a first-come first-serve basis.

This is 4-H Shooting Sports Camp, an exciting camp experience for campers who have completed 5th-9th grade and are active members of one of the Sevier County shooting sports teams. Youth learn appropriate skills to succeed in a variety of shooting sports and related areas such as archery, riflery, shotgun use, muzzleloading, and outdoor skills.  Skills include firearms safety, correct form, responsible use, and life skills. 4-Hers attending this camp have a camping adventure located in the natural environment of a 4-H center. 4-H members and volunteer leaders will have an opportunity to make new friends, experience adventure, and accept responsibility for group living in a camp setting.

There are discovery activities that make learning fun. Due to space restrictions, registration is limited. Class size is small to ensure individual attention and completion of all projects. Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Junior High Academic Conference is an educational program on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Participants receive intensive training in their 4-H project areas under the supervision of university scientists and specialists and explore related career opportunities. The conference provides a variety of rewarding and fun-filled experiences in classroom, outdoors, and laboratory settings. Learn more information on the Academic Conference website.

You will need to fill out the application for Academic Conference and a Section A form for the portfolio for all project areas except Citizenship. If you are applying to attend the Academic Conference in the Citizenship project, you will fill out the application for Academic Conference and a Section C form. Both forms need to be sent to your 4-H Agent by March 31.

4-H Electric Camp is a fun-filled, rewarding adventure in electricity. You will explore the world of energy, electricity, energy conservation, electrical safety, and other basic sciences in fun-filled, “hands-on” learning activities.

You will work with electrical specialists from across the state in learning centers. Each learning center will consist of hands-on activities to learn by doing. You will also have the chance to meet other 4-H’ers from across Tennessee and explore careers in energy, electricity, and basic sciences. It’s an electrifying experience!

Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This is 4-H Survivor Junior High Camp, an exciting camp experience for campers who have completed 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. All campers are placed into one of four tribes, Onvee, Bula Bula, Gaholi, or Rumbra. Throughout the week, campers will complete in Tribal Challenges and earn points for their team. The week kicks off with the Amazing Race, a thrilling challenge where tribes compete in different events and race from one end of the camp to the other.

July 8-12, 2024

Summer Camp Scholarships

2024 Summer Camp Scholarships will be available for pick up in early spring at the Sevier County Extension Office. Check back after the new year for more information! Scholarships can be used for any overnight camp (Jr 4-H Camp, Jr High Camp, Target Smart Camp, Creative Arts, and Design Camp, Electric Camp, etc.)! Scholarship applications MUST be returned by March 10 at 5 pm. Scholarships are available to everyone and are based on financial need. Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 31, 2024. For the summer of 2023, Sevier County 4-H gave out over $8,000 in scholarships to over 140 4-Hers. We hope to top this in 2024! This was only possible because of the support from our community members and sponsors. Donations are used to reduce the cost of camps for our 4-Hers. Interested in donating to our overnight camps? The following events count as outside events for the 2023-2024 Sevier County 4-H Golden Eagle Award. Judging teams and shooting sports teams practices also count as an Outside Event. Scholarships for outside events and day camps can be requested on an as-needed basis. Please contact a 4-H agent for more information!

This workshop will help prepare you for the photography contest held in club meetings in March. At this workshop, 4-H members will learn photography tips to enhance their skills. There is no cost for this workshop but space is limited. The workshop will be held February 6, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the 4-H Office located at 752 Old Knoxville Highway. This is an outside event for the Golden Eagle Award! Please register using the newsletter your 4-Her received at their club meeting or the button below by February 1, 2024. Registration will open on January 8th.

This workshop is designed to help 4-Hers learn how to assemble beautiful floral displays. The cost is $15 and space is limited. The workshop will be held March 12, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the 4-H Office located at 752 Old Knoxville Highway. This is an outside event for the Golden Eagle Award! Please register using the newsletter your 4-Her received at their club meeting or the button below by March 1, 2024. Registration will open on February 1st.

A county-wide 4-H Officer Training Workshop will be held on November 1st at Catlettsburge Elementary School. All officers
are encouraged to attend to learn more about their job as an officer! Tuna drop-off is from 4:30-5 pm. Check-in for
all other officers begins at 5 p.m. and workshops will begin at 5:15 p.m. A parent meeting will also be held at 5:15 p.m

Sevier County 4-H staff will host a speech workshop to help you prepare for the county contest on November 8th from 4:00-5:00 p.m. The workshops will be held at the Sevier County Extension Office. Join us on November 13th for the 2023 Gingerbread House Workshop at Walters State in Sevierville. Each participant will be provided a kit to build their own gingerbread house. The cost is $30 plus anything you would like to use as decorations for your house (M&M’s, Skittles, red hots, peppermints, malted cereals, Chex Mix, etc.). You may register with the newsletter your child received at their club meeting or use the registration button below. A Christmas Craft Workshop will be offered on December 4, from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Sevier County Extension Office. The cost is $15. All materials will be provided! Spend your time with your 4-H friends making festive Christmas crafts for this holiday season! Please register using the newsletter your 4-Her received at their club meeting or the button below by December 1, 2022. Registration will open on November 1st. Space is limited!

A county speech contest will be held for those who want to compete with other 4-H members from across the county. Competition is by grade level. Ribbons will be presented to each participant. The top three speakers at each grade level will receive a prize. A $25.00 check and certificate for $100 off a trip to the 2024 Junior 4-H Camp (4th-6th grade), 2024 Junior High Camp (7th-8th grade), or 4-H Round-Up (9th-12th graders) goes to the first-place speaker for each respective grade. County winners will also be invited to represent Sevier County in Regional Speaking Events.

The county contest for all grade levels will be on Tuesday, December 19, starting at 6:00 p.m., at the Sevier County Courthouse. Please report to the Courthouse by 5:45 p.m. to check-in. Room locations will be posted at the Courthouse doors. Remember you must pre-register for the speech contest!

We’ve teamed up with Rocky Top K9 to host a dog safety demonstration, for companion animal enthusiasts. It’s happening on January 9th, at 4:00 p.m., in the Pigeon Forge Intermediate School gym. Don’t miss out on this chance to learn some essential tips and tricks to keep yourself and your furry friends safe and sound.

4-H Records Workshops have been planned to assist you in completing your project books. This workshop will be held at the 4-H Office (752 Old Knoxville Highway), adjacent to the Sevier County Fairgrounds. Bring your project folder to the workshop. 4th graders should bring the Exploring 4-H Book. The workshop will qualify as a county event for the Golden Eagle Award. No other 4-H records workshops will be scheduled and you must register no later than January 4th!
